Internet reveals Gibson’s brutal vision of Jesus

Source: The Herald, UK
The trailer for the “The Passion” is available at aint-it-cool-news.com. “The Passion” is a film through which its director, Mel Gibson, a devout Catholic, determined to show the pain and torture that Jesus Christ, our Savior, suffered at this time of his crucifixion.

…the trailer demonstrates the film’s brutal impact. It shows several scenes of Jim Caviezel, the actor who plays Jesus, being beaten brutally and whipped until his lacerated body is covered in blood.

Another scene shows Pontius Pilate presenting the beaten Jesus to the crowd, and declaring “Ecce homo” - “Behold the man”. There are also glimpses of Monica Bellucci as Mary Magdelene, Maia Morgenstern as Mary, Rosalinda Celentano as Satan, Judas being thrown his 30 pieces of silver and Jesus carrying the cross to Calvary.

The trailer ends as Jesus cries from the cross: “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani” - “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”

  1. Dear Mel,

We are two Romanian professors who warmly congratulate you for your film, “The Passion”, a realistic and forgiveness demanding masterpiece on behalf of the real Romanian Christians.

If we all want to live in peace, dignity, and mutual respect in a globalized world we must understand that we are all equal in front of God and that…who sows the wind will reap the whirlwind.

We wish you ALL THE BEST and GOD BLESS YOU!

    Sincerely,

    Carmen and Costel

  2. Dear Mel

I am so very glad that you made this film, but I and several others think that you shouldn’t have taken out any scenes. We understand that some of the Jewish cultures are having a problem with the whole “chanting” scene when Jesus is being crucified. We think that if you wanted to make this movie on ((absolute truth)) you shouldn’t have taken that out. God says “You are not to add or take away from the Word of God.” If people have a problem with the TRUTH then they have a choice on not to go see it!!!! Other than that Good Job and God Bless You!!

  3. Mel,

I am a single mother from a tiny town in Georgia. I go to school, work and take care of my daughter. I grew up in a “Church of God” environment and my faith is so deeply rooted that every test I’ve encountered over the past 23 years of my life can’t break it. I know that the reason for this is what is displayed in your new movie. It’s so nice to see how wrong everyone else is, isn’t it? They all said this would be the end of your career, but I see that “His” promise says it will be the beginning. Good luck, God bless. I look forward to buying this movie and showing it to my daughter in a few years to let her know that what Christ went through is not this glorious fairy tale of an event. No critcisms. You’ve done something wonderful!

  4. Two questions!!!!

    1. What happened to GALILEE? Was it not the area where the gentiles had to live?

    2. Why can’t we see the letter from Pontius pilate to Caesar regarding Jesus and his description of Jesus which is supposed to be in the archives in Rome somewhere? Can’t get any answers! This is driving me nuts!

Since I had my own vision when hitting bottom and not wanting to go on with this life, these questions are more meaningfully on my mind than ever before!

  5. Dear Mr. Gibson:

I looked forward to the interview with Diane Sawyer and was disgusted with her attitude and accusatory way of wasting time, asking the questions she repeatedly asked of you.

I really wanted to know of your VISION which I know you had. Your values and state of mind reflect this and Ms Sawyer was not up to asking the vital question regarding this experience which you had to have had.

Still want to know about Galilee and also the letter from Pontius Pilate to Caesar regarding the impression he had of Jesus and even the physical description he gave of Jesus.

Because my experience coincides with this letter and validates (not to me) but technically that visions are “news letters” between two worlds.

If I were to get an answer, I would regard this as a “miracle”!

    God bless you!

You have really put your money where it all is at!

  6. Dear Mel (forgive me the first name, yet I feel that I know you as a friend)

My first impression of you came from I guess the first thing I saw you act in, Mad Max. Then there was the Lethal Weapon movies, where instead of the violence being the most prominant focus it was the relationship between you and Danny Glover that impressed me the most. Anyway, it was not until your brillient performance in Hamlet that I saw you in a whole new light. I remember weeping with you at the thought of your mother in the film taking so lightly the death of your father the King and the devestation you felt when she entered into marriage so soon after his death. I remember thinking that everyone who had experienced devorce or a similar loss of a parent to death would be tremendously moved by your performance. In Hamlet you inbodied everyone who has experienced this horific yet all too common occurance & travisty in our society.

I was born into a Christian family, and I look for Jesus Christ to come back in the flesh very soon. Your movie has brought the gospel into places of both the elite of society, fame, fortune and to the lowliest of heart, those who have lost hope for tomorrow. You have done what Billy Graham has been quoted to have said, “This film is a lifetime of sermons”, I agree.

I was so moved by your testimony when interviewed by Diane Sawyer. Your body language was more powerful than your words. You behaved as one who was non confrontational, yet full of conviction. (The Christ through the Holy Spirit truly has come into your life in a very special way.) I felt at the beginning as if you wanted to cry you were so moved by the God/Man who has saved you and all of us. But as the questions became personally offensive, you moved into a very literate, intellengent, masterful expression of your artistic license and belief. Thank you Mel, and may God bless you for your testimony. Your world of fame, fortune, and glitz, will hound you now and in the future. The line has been drawn and you have expressed which side you are on. Now the devil will continue to hound you for being the “Man with convictions.” A few in your position have tried to step forward only to slide back a few years down the road because the cross of “the squeeky clean Christian,” image was too hard to withstand. Thank you for showing me that one man can make a difference.

Bye the way if you ever want to talk to a guy who shares your fervant need to share Christs story contact Doug Batchelor at Amazing Facts.com

I want to know if you have read the book Desire of Ages by Ellen White in your extensive research? If not you will be interested to know that perhaps similarly as the nuns you researched had visions of the crusifiction, Ellen White also had visions and saw the devil in the crowd of Jews screaming “Crucify Him crucify Him”. She has awesome things to say about the whole week before Christs crucifiction. The whole book Desire of Ages is about Christs life and you will really be moved by it. When I saw the trailers of the Passion and the devil is walking among the crowd it gave me chills and reminded me of what Mrs. White sees in her vision.

Well sorry for the long mail entry. You may never read this. I just felt compelled to write to you. I am so grateful to you for actually moving out in faith and putting your money where your conviction dictated no matter what anyone said. And thank you again for your testimony. May God richly bless you and give you peace that passes all understanding. Continue to Hide in the cleft of the Rock (Jesus Christ) He is very proud of you and He smiles I am sure because even though this movie will pass down in time and is talked about in so many different ways, and opinions, the most important thing is that you moved, you did what you felt impressed to do, and your experience no one can take from you. I see you alittle like a Martin Luthur and the 95 thesis. He felt compelled to do what he did. And also St. Patrick as he mixed it up with the Druids. Whatever is said about these men in the theological circles today they were great men. Take care my friend, watch your back, keep studying “The Word” the Bible (the whole bible) is the enbodiment of Christ. He was and is the word made flesh and in Him we all have life. And you are right those that have a problem with the movies theme have a problem with the gospels not you. Again God bless you, and thank you for your generous and utterly unrepayable artistic gesture from your heart to ours, the gift of the visual gospel of Jesus Christ.

    Robin D.

  7. DEAR MR GIBSON,

I WENT TO SEE YOUR FILM TONIGHT AND IT PUT EVERYTHING I’VE EVER LEARNED IN A NEW AND GREAT PERSPECTIVE. THIS MOVIE IS A REAL EYE OPENER FOR ALL THAT SEE IT. FINALLY, THE TRUTH REVEALS ITSELF ON THE BIG SCREEN AND EVERYONE WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE WHAT OUR LORD REALLY WENT THROUGH. YOUR COURAGE AND DEDICATION TO THIS FILM IS APPRECIATED AND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. YOU ALSO HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB WITH ALL THE CRITICS THAT TRY TO MAKE THE MOVIE AND YOU LOOK BAD. THANKS AGAIN MR. GIBSON, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

    SINCERELY, MARK SMITH

Thanks for your time and your inspiration (you made me a screenwriter)

  10. I am very thankful that such an inspired work is in the theaters. What a great Job Mel Gibson did, on so many levels!!! I feel sure that Mel knows that he is going to be Paid and many levels also, the greatest of which, will be in Heaven!

I just hope that he keeps in mind one thing regarding the Media: When you have a rattle snake by the tail be very careful where on how fast you swing him! Always remember that the snake’s objective is to bit you! And if giving the chance…he will not hesitate!

May God Bless and Change the Lives of all who see this Anointed work of Art!

  11. A friend and I viewed the “Passion” recently. Before the presentation we both read ISAIAH 52, 13 TO 53, 12, in order to focus ourselves on the Passion of Jesus. Then we discussed on how many great Saints, including Ignatius de Loyola, and more recently Brother Andre of Montreal, sanctified themselves by meditating on the Passion. This said, I can say that we were not looking at a film of violence, but we were rather following Jesus in his terrible suffering because of his passionate love for every one of us.

Thank you Mel and may God bless you.

    JDP

  12. Mr. Gibson,

I truly believe you are the one and only Mad Max! Indeed my friend you truly are BEYOND Thunderdome. I understand that you appreciate the limitless coffers that christians hold. I also you needed a decent film because let’s be frank, Signs really stank.

Good work on pulling a fast one on Jesus Lovers, and for making a film gory enough to be covered in this months issue of Fangoria!

    your pal,

    killin4jeebus

  13. Mr. Gibson:

Your gore-fest snuff flick is a cowardly attempt to scare people into Christianity. The Stations of the Cross was a 15th Century scare tactic on the part of the church to force serfs to blindly accept their fate of brutal subservience at the hands of their god/kings. We have elevated it to a level of God’s love for humanity, NOT some f**king fire and brimstone pulpit pounding “get thee to the church” message.

I hope you use your thirty pieces of silver you received from this piece of cinematic trash well. Karmic retribution will find you too, f**ko.

    J

  14. Dear Mr. Gibson,

I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated The Passion of the Christ. Rarely does one see an unsanitized, unflinching, literal restatement of history so punctiliously recreated. I am bursting proud of my ancestors for their little part in having made it possible.

    Al Schwartz

  15. I thought the ending was a little predictable.

  16. Dearest Mel,

i loved this movie for one reason and one reason only : it keeps promotoing the lie that Jesus died for all your sins and that just by accepting him into your life will get you into His kingdom.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Suckers! All the Sh**ty things you have done in your life will come back to haunt you in the afterlife fools! I WILL BE SEEING YOU IN MY DOMAIN SOON!! It doesnt matter what you believe you fools but how youve lived and youve all lived lives of sin and i cant wait to see the look on all your fat cherubic “Christian” faces! Oh and by the way the one true God is Vishnu so even if youve lived lives of virtue, well you backed the wrong dude.

  17. Jebus died for our sins. That sacrifice should not have been in vain. Thus, let us all go forth and sin as much as we possibly can.

  18. Look at the morons who think Mel Gibson is not only going to READ this site (of course! He has nothing better to do) but that he’s actually going to answer each one of you individually.

Deluded fools, everyone one of you, “Dear Mel,” sycophants.

  19. OK. I saw the movie and I was just disgusted. The use of slow motion to extend the scenes of violence and pain was not only annoying (1/2 of the movie was in slow motion) but it was used only to tug at the heartstrings of the vulnerable and the weak. this movie used shock and spectacle to try to get it’s point across, and said nothing new. It was purely an attempt to suck money out of the pockets of christians, and for that I am disgusted. Faith is a very personal thing, and this movie played on the guilt and dogma felt by those trying to have a personal relationship with their lord, trying to drive them back into the unholy social order of the modern church. THis movie was nothing more than emotional blackmail. You know wehre each of you stand with god, and that is right. this movie was nothing more than a way to make money by exploitiong the confusion and uncertainty of these times we live in, and that is truly despicable.

Think for yourselves, people. God gave each of us free will. God knows our hearts, and knows where we stand. We will each face our own lives at the end. Please, don’t let this pathetic piece of hollywood crap manipulaste you to something you know is wrong.

  20. Dearest Mel Gibson,

Your movie was not bad. I think you should also make more movies that were like the ones called LETHAL WEAPON and maybe have THE PASSION in it.

    GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

  21. You know what I think Kyle?I think you’re scared. You’re scared of the truth. If you aren’t scared then go see it. Go see “The Passion” and tell me I’m wrong. 400 million dollars Kyle. The highest grossing film of all time. Those numbers don’t lie. Mel Gibson Kyle…Mel…Gibson.

  22. Dear Mel,

I want to thank you for all the blessings you have brought me. You have shown me the way so many times in the past and… now you are making all my dreams come true. You give me strength when there is doubt, and I praise you for all you have done. Only you, Mel Gibson, have had the wisdom and the courage to show the world the truth. From this day forward I will dedicate my life to making sure your film is seen by everyone. I will organize the masses so that we may do thy bidding. Hail Mel Gibson. Amen.

  23. I went to your movie in March, but chose to watch the audience instead. It was a HOOT watching those blueheaded baptists bobbing and boo hooing.

I think you should do a movie on Abu Graub.

Also I think of Jesus were to see your movie, he would never stop vomiting.

  24. Mr. Gibson, you are a true genius. Your movies are a source of endless inspiration and devotion for your millions of fans.

Now we can sit back and watch Jesus lay down a rubber road, straight to Freedom! We’ll think of His name when we look upon the night sky.

  25. Dear Mel:

Having seen your movie I keep wandering how it is that someone with your extensive experience, wealth & penchant for action movies could be such a complete asshat? Strike that comment. After all, if we look at the present ‘guvanator’ of california we can see a smilliar assitude in action. It must be the faith.

  26. TPOTC was the bigitty BOMB! had no idea Jesus could take a punch like that. If there really is a Jesus up in heaven, he will touch your heart and have you film the true masterwork you were destined to make: Jesus Christ: Beyond Thunderdome. Trust me, when Jesus comes back (This time it’s PERSONAL!) to exact his revenge, you’ll be farting through a solid gold codpiece at the right hand of Big Daddy God, forever and ever, Amen

  27. It was an S&M gore flick. I wonder about Mel gibsons personal life, does he torture people to a bloody pulp?

  28. Dear Mel,

I too like you have deepest respect for the Bible. I am glad you did what you did and don’t let anybody shake you from your path set by God. Specially them Jews. Most people do not understand what it is like to find the absolute truth and realized how good it feels to turn off your mind and let God drive you. God drives me all night and all day and it feels so good. I wish others could understand how it feels to have Jesus deep inside driven you all night long. Peace out losers.

  29. Mr. Gibson,

I am a true believer and love Christ with all my heart. I am so very glad you made this movie. It’s about time the silent majority made a nice dent in the den of vipers known as Hollywood.

That being said, I had to listen to the movie rather than watch it. The gore was so overdone I kept my head turned away from the screen about 3/4’s of the time.

Thank you for bringing Christ’s suffering to the big screen!
