Translators give Bezhtas first bible
Thanks to the work of translators in Moscow even more people can read the bible in their own language
bq.. MOSCOW, Nov. 21 (UPI)—About 5,000 Muslim Bezhta people have been given a book in their own language by Moscow’s Institute of Bible Translation.
The gospel according to Luke is now the only book in Bezhta ever published, the Moscow Times said.
The institute’s translators have been working for 30 years to provide translations of the bible into all of the former Soviet Union’s 130 languages. IBT so far has published passages in 80 of them.
The Bezhtas were apparently grateful for the material, and have sent IBT numerous letters of thanks.
