Christian leaders in Africa take HIV test

Church leaders take the lead in Africa by testing for HIV and reporting the results.

bq.. YAOUNDE, Cameroon, Nov. 26 (UPI)—African church leaders have lined up to take HIV tests and declare their status, the BBC reported Wednesday.

Bishop Mvume Dandala, general secretary of the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), said any of the 800 church leaders who test positive for HIV would be supported.

Dandala also urged those who were HIV positive to reveal their status to fight the stigma of HIV/Aids.

_”I think it is important for people like that to come out into the open and for us all as a church to learn how to handle one another in a responsible way,” he said._
