Private Christian schools seek state funding

Christians schools in Scotland look for equality in funding consideration.

bq.. INDEPENDENT Christian schools in Scotland are planning to follow Muslim campaigners, who are seeking cash to establish Islamic schools, in asking the Scottish Executive for funding.

The schools, which teach that the Bible is the literal word of God and which dismiss modern theories of evolution, claim they should receive the same funding as Roman Catholic schools.

The controversial move comes after Scotland on Sunday last week revealed Glasgow Muslims are campaigning to have four schools – including one Catholic primary – made into state-funded Islamic schools. And this weekend, former Glasgow councillor Bashir Mann has said he backs Muslim schools after spending years opposing them.
