Robertson: God says it’s Bush in a ‘blowout’ in November

USATODAY.com reports on Pat Robertson’s recent comment about the 2004 Presidential Elections. According to Pat Robertson, God has spoken to him and said that Bush will win the election by a blowout.

More from USA Today:

bq.. NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Friday he believes God has told him President Bush will be re-elected in a “blowout” in November.
“I think George Bush is going to win in a walk,” Robertson said on his 700 Club program on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded. “I really believe I’m hearing from the Lord it’s going to be like a blowout election in 2004. It’s shaping up that way.”

Robertson told viewers he spent several days in prayer at the end of 2003.

“The Lord has just blessed him,” Robertson said of Bush. “I mean, he could make terrible mistakes and comes out of it. It doesn’t make any difference what he does, good or bad, God picks him up because he’s a man of prayer and God’s blessing him.”

p. If God said it, it will happen. If God did not say so, it will not happen. We shall know for sure in November.

  1. ‘If God said it, it will happen. If God did not say so, it will not happen. We shall know for sure in November.’

    - Specious, partisan nonsense.

This is like something from the Dark Ages.

  2. Ahh… Richard,

I would not say that what I wrote above is from the Dark Ages, but I will say that it is a part of ancient history. My intention was to reflect the spirit of Deuteronomy 18:21-22 in the New Living Translation of the Bible:

bq.. 21. You may wonder, ‘How will we know whether the prophecy is from the LORD or not?’ 22. If the prophet predicts something in the LORD’s name and it does not happen, the LORD did not give the message. That prophet has spoken on his own and need not be feared.

    p. Simply put, time is the best proof for prophecy. Is that partisan? No, this article does not favor one candidate over another. Specious? Maybe I am misunderstanding how you find it inaccurate or misleading? At no point does this article validate or invalidate the statement made by Robertson, only the November election can do that.

The reader must be persuaded in his own mind.

I, however, stand by above scripture and the weathered adage that says, “Time will tell.”

    Thanks for reading.

  3. It’s Specious because is “sounds” fair and reasonable enough in tone to the casual skim-reader; but (imo) it’s absurd to accept a man as God’s prophet, if one obvious prediction of his - happens.

It’s partisan because everyone knows (alas) Bush will win; yet you’re claiming “If” he wins, God has indeed “blessed” him - as the conservative Pat Robertson claims.

    i.e. God backs Bush.

It’s nonsense in that it’s insolent talk.

I liken it to the Dark Ages because it’s manipulative, patronizing, superstitious rhetoric (sadly bringing this site into disrepute.)

    Indeed “Time will tell”

Thank ya’ll for doing so much to educate people

regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal

from your website, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:

    1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

    2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

    3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual

uncleanliness - Lev.15:19-24. The problem is,how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

    4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess

slaves, both male and female, provided they are

purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of

mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not

Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own

    Canadians?

    5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the

Sabbath. Exodus 35: clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him

    myself?

    6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating

shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a

lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t

    agree. Can you settle this?

    7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the

altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

    8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27.

    How should they die?

    9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, does this mean I can’t play football?

    10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by

planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two

different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)?

I know ya’ll have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

    Yours sincerly,

    Kevin

  5. Kevin, Your cleaver. I have to give you credit for finding this and displaying it the way you did. They are many thing about the truth that have been misunderstood. I could sit right with you asking bible thumpers these and many other questions about the teaching of the word.

Truth is I am a Judea-Christian (no relation to any religous group). I have been called many things because of my belief. I do christian historical research as well as Translations of the manuscripts. Many claim that the English KJV Bible is the true word of God. I asure you that god had nothing to do with the translation of the manuscripts to english or any other language. He was also not there when all these different people started revising this book and that book to suit their faith. Most revised bibles are revised by religous groups who all ready know what they want the truth to be, or what they think the truth is. Honestly they are lost more than cleaver people like yourself are.

The english bible is like a second edition book. You ever get a book that you loved, then years later someone else rewrites that book for what they call a more modern version and nothing seems the same? How about one of your favorite song that have been remade. It’s never the same as the original. Someone has to change something even if it’s just the tone they sing in.

Did you know that because of copy write pertection laws when a bible is revised it has to be written completely different than any other version? This is true. I wonder how many things have been altered just to comply with the copy write laws. Eventually if you reword the truth this many times would the meaning of the truth not be changed? It is.

Most people only research with their favorite version of the bible and their churches pamplets. I guess this exsplains why the truth says that in the end time the famine is not of bread (food) but hearing the word of God (the true word).
