Christ’s novel return is a US bestseller
“Glorious Appearing” is a best seller on Amazon’s booklist. Christianity is “popular” in mainstream entertainment at the moment. Will this current “popularity” translate into the advancement of the cause of Christ—a deeper committment for those professing Christianity and a new hope for those accepting Christ as their savior. Could it possibly be that a nation of millions is “window-shopping” for a religous experience and Christianity just happens to be the one on display? Finally, will the church seize this opportunity given them be the “light to the dying world”; directing all who will hear to the solution—Jesus Christ?
bq.. An evangelical novel about the return of Jesus Christ based on an apocalyptic reading of the biblical book of Revelation is to hit the bookstores and bestseller lists in the US today.
Bookshops have ordered more than 2m copies of Glorious Appearing – more than Hillary Rodham Clinton’s memoir sold in its first six months – which has shot to No 4 in the Amazon internet book rankings the day before its release.
Glorious Appearing is the last in a 12-book series called Left Behind published over the past nine years. The first 11 novels sold more than 40m copies, making the authors, Tim LaHaye and Jerry B Jenkins, the best selling novelists in the country, beating even John Grisham.
Coming in the wake of the success of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, which details Jesus’s last 12 hours before crucifixion, the Left Behind series is the latest example of the huge impact religious themes are having on popular culture.

Great comments! It really does seem that North Americans (Americans especially) are out looking for some sort of religious experience, yet there seems to be little in the way of impact in the churches. Of course as the base of Christians willing to purchase Christian entertainment increases, items like this book will continue to sell well. Obviously the vast majority will be purchased by believers and will have little impact on unbelievers.
