New Zealand - MP asks God to stop new bill
Posted on November 28th, 2004 by Anthony K. Valley
United Future MP Paul Adams is fasting for 21 days in the hope God will answer his prayers and stop the passage of the Civil Union Bill.
Adams, a committed Christian, began his fast on Monday and has only drunk water since in a bid to halt the bill, which gives same-sex relationships the same legal status as marriage.
He said his hunger pains disappeared after the third day and he was feeling fine.
“Day one is always the worst, but after a while you don’t feel hungry any more. The worst thing is you miss out on the social contact of having meals.
“Usually you would come home from work and sit down to a family meal, but when you are fasting you come home and have a glass of water.”
Adams said he had fasted many times in the last 18 years in support of various matters that he wanted to “bring before the Lord” as a committed Christian, and had not suffered any ill effects.
His last 21-day fast – to support a building project at his church – was just two months ago and he lost seven kilograms. In the Old Testament Daniel fasted for 21 days because he had a vision of war and wanted to stop it.

I applaud you. It is our duty as christians to be concerned over such matters. For to long christians have tried not ot get involved in politics believing they have no place there. We are now seeing the effects with the churches who are now ordaining ga ministers. If the church sits back and ignores the issue, then the issue will hit directly within the church.
