Original 'Star Wars' Trilogy Set for Sept. DVD Bow

Just in time for my 34th birthday on September 25th, Lucas plans to the original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. Reuters reports:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - “Star Wars Trilogy,” one of the most-requested DVD episodic film franchises, is expected to be released as a four-disc DVD box set Sept. 21.

A global rollout on DVD is expected within days of the domestic release, according to Lucasfilm Ltd. and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

The trilogy, featuring the classic franchise films “Star Wars,” “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi,” will be released on three DVD discs, with a fourth disc likely to hold a newly made documentary about the “Star Wars” franchise and never-before-seen footage, among several other bonus materials, said Jim Ward, Lucasfilm’s vp marketing and distribution and the DVD trilogy’s executive producer.

Bring it on, George… Bring it on.

Matrix Revolutions DVD not coming out in January!

Well, as the Oracle said, “Everything that has a beginning, has an end” and so ends the January 6th rumor concerning the release of Revolutions.

Try for April — and wait for that box set to follow.

According to one of our sources, rumors that THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS is to be released on home video this coming January 6 are completely inaccurate. The studio is nowhere near to having a master cut of the DVD release of REVOLUTIONS, with work continuing on the title over the holidays and beyond.

“I can unequivocally tell you that its NOT coming out then,” writes our source, the identity of whom we’ve established but they prefer to remain anonymous. The scooper then goes on to report that MATRIX producer Joel Silver is working on the REVOLUTIONS DVD process right now and that mastering a final cut of the DVD is an ongoing process. “What the retailers probably received was the date they can preorder the DVD,” adds our informant.

And with that comes an end to the REVOLUTIONS by January rumor.

Star Wars Episode III - Final Fight Sequence Info

Richard C. Wilson, Jr's Episode III update by way of www.darkhorizons.com

-------------------------

Star Wars: Episode III: LatinoReview talked with Hayden Christensen for his upcoming film "Shattered Glass" and he commented on the final prequel which he wrapped filming the other month - "It still has to reach out to a specific audience, but it will be substantially darker than the previous films. I will say, on the record, the final fight sequence in this film will, in my opinion, and not having seen any of it cut together, should surpass any fight sequence that has been put on film so far. It’s the longest, I can’t give you specifics, but it is quite the bad-assed fight scene. Nick Gilliard has done an amazing job instilling an arc of story in the fight. It justifies, because you know Anakin and Obi-Wan have it out, but Anakin is the chosen one-he is supposed to be the best. But he comes out on the shorter end of the stick in the fight. It justifies it really nicely as the fight progresses". Thanks to 'Kellvin'.

Matrix Revolutions simultaneous release world-wide

Another update from Richard C. Wilson, Jr. by way of www.darkhorizons.com

The Matrix Revolutions: There's been releases in the same week or so worldwide, there's occasionally the odd same day release - but in a new stunt to help ensure the sci-fi tale breaks the records on paper, Warners will be releasing "Revolutions" all around the world simultaneously - early morning in the US, afternoon/evening in Europe & Africa, and during the night across Asia - god help those fans in Hawaii and Tahiti. Here's the relevant part of the release: "Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will unveil THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS, the final explosive chapter in the blockbuster MATRIX trilogy, at the exact same moment in time in every major city around the world on November 5. This unprecedented distribution scenario will make the highly anticipated film available to fans simultaneously at 6 a.m. in Los Angeles, 9 a.m. in New York, 2 p.m. in London, 5 p.m. in Moscow, 11 p.m. in Tokyo and at corresponding times in over 50 additional countries worldwide". The Star Wars Trilogy coming to DVD

Notes from my movie buff friend and co-worker Richard C. Wilson, Jr.:

Star Wars Trilogy (DVD): Finally, the classic original series trilogy may at last be coming to DVD in order to help the buzz for "Episode Three". The Digital Bits reports that Lucasfilm is so happy with the format of their upcoming "Indiana Jones Trilogy" DVD set hitting shelves late October that they're rumoured to be planning to use the same style to release the classic Star Wars films. This would mean a four disc set with one film on each, plus a fourth disc with extra features for all three films. Work is believed to have already begun with a 4th Quarter 2004 release date being targeted. For now though this is still rumour, nothing official has yet come from Lucasfilm about this. Thanks to 'FanHalen'.
