Who gets abortions? The answer might surprise you – AP
Who are these women?
Much of the public debate focuses on teens, as evidenced by the constant wrangling over parental notification laws and movies like the current hit Juno, in which the pregnant heroine heads to an abortion clinic, then decides to have the baby.
In fact, the women come from virtually every demographic sector. But year after year the statistics reveal that black women and economically struggling women — who have above-average rates of unintended pregnancies — are far more likely than others to have abortions. About 13 percent of American women are black, yet new figures from the Centers for Disease Control show they account for 35 percent of the abortions.
Black abortion opponents depict this phenomenon in dire terms — “genocide” and “holocaust,” for example. Often, however, the women getting the abortions maintain they act in the interests of children they already have.

To fight the advancing rate of sexually transmitted disease and teenage pregnacy, Scotland’s most senior public health doctor proposes starting sex education with five year olds.
SEX education lessons should be given to schoolchildren as young as five as part of a bid to combat soaring levels of teenage pregnancy and sexual disease, Scotland’s most senior public health doctor said last night.
Dr Charles Saunders, chairman of the British Medical Association’s Scottish consultants’ committee, warned that schools were leaving the safe-sex message so late that many teenagers were already exposing themselves to avoidable risk.

Murder plot for Orthodox priest Ramazan Arkan thwarted by Turkish polish.
ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkish police have foiled a plot to murder a priest, in a case that recalls other attacks this year against Christians in Muslim but secular Turkey, newspapers reported on Monday.
Police in the coastal resort of Antalya detained a young man on Sunday on suspicion of preparing to kill Orthodox priest Ramazan Arkan, who is a Turk, the Milliyet daily said.

After following 30 married couples with full-time jobs and children, a recent study determined that a happy home helps alleviate the stress of working women.
TUESDAY, Jan. 1 (HealthDay News)—Coming home to a loving spouse and a good marriage helps working women shake off the stress of the day, new research confirms.
Men, on the other hand, often drop their stress at the door when they come home, regardless of the state of their union, reported psychology researchers.
Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed 30 married, parenting couples, with each partner employed in full-time jobs.

In the Fort Worth area, Christine Lutz makes the headlines after being escorted off the bus for reading the bible aloud to her children while on the way to church.
From the article:
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― A passenger on a Fort Worth bus says the T. Bus Service discriminated against her religion.
Christine Lutz says she was reading her Bible to her children when the bus driver asked her to stop or get off the bus.
Lutz, a Seventh Day Adventist, and her children were on their way to church.

With the only exception being to save the life of the expectant mother, South Dakota has banned all other abortions. Seeing that this ban directly opposes the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973, it is hard to imagine that a proposal, however noble or lofty as this, will be able to stand within the current legal system.
I sense more politics than power in Governor Mike Rounds’ decision.

Because of Orange County, Flordia’s land use policy, Rabbi Joseph Konikov was prohibited from having religious meetings in his home. Konikov was later fined $50 per day for continuing his home prayer services totaling almost $56,000.
Legal action has freed the rabbi from this ridiculous violation of his religious freedom.

According to his weblog, Tonex has retired from the gospel music industry as an artist. Tonex sites that he has endure hard mistreatment from the body of Christ and more shockingly, other industry insiders most of all.
Tonex is not abandoning the Christian faith or seeking to start a career in mainstream music. In a recent radio interview with KJLH in Los Angeles, Tonex affirmed his first priority is his commitment to the pastorate. On this radio interview, he speak candidly about his recent appointment to the pastorate following his father’s death, his recent divorce from his wife of four years, and his disdain with the gospel music industry.
Tonex, Christ loves you and it’s our prayer that you will continue to experience his love and grace. May you find peace in the midst of your hardship. Amen

In the United States, a product like Cheap Monday jeans that is blatantly anti-Christian would be quickly boycotted and dropped by retailers and merchandisers. The Lutheran Church, the predominate faith community in Sweden, has a hands off approach to this product. Some Swedish Christians are both offended by the response of the Church and the message of the product.
